Six strains, 17 billion cells at manufacture and 10 billion guaranteed at expiry. The everyday adult formula.
-
17 billion live cells at manufacture, 10 billion guaranteed at expiry
- Six strains, formulated for adults aged 15 and over
- 90% Lactobacillus, 10% Bifidobacterium
-
FOS-free and gluten free
- No enteric coating — strains selected for acid tolerance
- Refrigerated · 30 or 60 capsules
Microbiotic is what Udo's calls these. You may know them as probiotics — here is why the word differs.

Six strains with their percentages published. A blend that lists six species without individual figures could be five token strains and one making up the bulk — and there would be no way to tell.
Where it sits in the range
This is the baseline adult formula. Compared with the others:

If you are over 50, the Adult 50+ formula carries three times the Bifidobacterium proportion and twice the guaranteed count. If you want the highest cell count in the range, that is Super 8 Gold. This one is the everyday option at the lowest price per capsule.
Which figure to compare
Two numbers get quoted on microbiotic labels: the count at manufacture, and the count guaranteed at the end of shelf life. The second is lower and more useful — it is what is still alive on the last day. Udo's declares both. Many products publish only the manufacture figure without saying so.
FOS-free
Many microbiotics add fructooligosaccharides as a prebiotic. FOS is a fermentable carbohydrate and one of the compounds restricted on a low-FODMAP diet. There is none added here — a specification most labels do not state either way.
Allergens
This product contains traces of milk and soya, which are used in the manufacturing process. Not suitable if you have a milk or soya allergy.
How to take it
One capsule daily. Refrigerate to maintain potency.
Common questions
17 billion or 10 billion — which is it?
17 billion at manufacture, 10 billion guaranteed on the last day of shelf life. Live cultures decline over time.
Should I take this or the 50+ formula?
The 50+ blend has seven strains rather than six, 30% Bifidobacterium rather than 10%, and 20 billion guaranteed rather than 10 billion.
Is it dairy free?
No. It contains traces of milk and soya from the manufacturing process.
Why no enteric coating?
The strains are selected for tolerance to stomach acid and bile, so no coating is needed.
30 or 60 capsules?
Same formula. The 60 costs less per capsule.
Does it need refrigerating?
Yes, to maintain the declared cell count.
